The wars between the Zulus and the British took place in the area known as The Battlefields which is now part of KwZulu Natal in areas such as Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift, Colenso, Spioenkop, Ladysmith, Dundee, Blood River, The KwaZulu-Natal Battlefields area of South Africa is world renowned.
Walk in the footsteps of famous military strategists – Shaka, Winston Churchill, Mahatma Gandhi and General Louis Botha – they were all part of the KwaZulu-Natal Battlefields. The wind sighs and whispers the secrets and sorrows of great battles, made visible by lone forts and small graveyards on these undulating landscapes ringed with rocky outcrops.
Today the areas are peaceful and only the myriad Battlefield sites give any clues to the bloody conflicts that took place.
